Sneaker Freaker is one of the world’s most famous and dedicated footwear-centric publications, and its stubborn belief often sees the imprint hosted by Simon “Woody” Wood partnering with sporting goods brands to create authentic collaborative projects. We’ve seen it work with ASICS (TOKYO:7936.T +3.10%) on Friends and Family’s GEL-LYTE III OG, New Balance on 574, and Diadora, but now it’s back in Asia Thurs – along with atmos – releases its GEL-LYTE III OG “Alley Cats”.
Described by Sneaker Freaker as a “proper feline shoe that pays homage to the small boulevards that crisscross Sneaker Freaker and atmos’ respective hometowns,” the sneaker appears in the captivating combination of “Sheet Rock” and “Gentry Purple,” Then add cream, white and neon green accents.
Elsewhere, you’ll find matte aluminum eyelets, “Alley Cats” lettering on the heel tab, a unique sockliner, dual-branded tongue logo and luminous tiger print, while a rubber lattice section has been added to the side Wall and heel, paying homage to the original GEL-LYTE III. The sneaker’s unique tongue design uses satin, while the furry cowhide makes up the lower part of the midplate, which becomes part of the heel section.
The green and black rope laces, as well as the regular black laces, can be swapped out to further accentuate the color of this pair, while the luminous detailing will do all the work for you at night. A dual-brand embossing on the grey suede heel completes the sneaker.
Sneaker Freaker and atmos’ ASICS GEL-LYTE III OG “Alley Cats” are priced at €160 (~$166) and will be available at retailers including Sivasdescalzo on July 4. Take a closer look at the shoe above.
